MaNIc mOnDAy

Hey Guys! I hope everyone had an awesome weekend and you are ready for a great Monday(no groans please). I hope Manic Monday makes your day! Several people have told me that they have not received very many samples. BE PATIENT! Most of my samples take about 8 weeks to arrive, sometimes more than that. Usually the samples in my pictures on manic monday's are samples that I signed up for a long long time ago. For example, the dreamcatcher key chain in the picture above...I signed up for back in August and I just got it this week. Walmart samples don't usually take as long. So just sit tight and relax, the wait is worth it! (Hint: The more samples you sign up for, the more you are sure to get in the mail)

Here's MaNIc mONdaY!

I'm Big on the Pig

Today, Jake and I, went to the 24th Annual Lexington BBQ Festival. I think they had about 4 music stages set up, lots of crafts, and TONS of BBQ(obviously). It was packed with people because it was only for one day and you pretty much had to just bump your way through the crowd. However, we still had a fun day. Jake bought me a backpack/pocketbook and we got a funnel cake and 2 drinks in souvenir cups.

I thought that this was so cool. It is actually a sand sculpture of pigs that a man was making. I think he does it every year because I seem to remember it from the other times that I have been to the festival.

Trisha Yearwood was also at the festival which was a pretty big highlight for me. We only listened to 2 songs because we were squished up around everyone due to the large crowd. I thought it was pretty cool that she came out in such casual clothing.

Rain DrOpS Falling On My Head

Jayden is still teething super bad. No tooth has come through yet but it's on the horizon. He woke up crying at 2:30AM this morning for the first time in a while and then after getting his passy he went right back to sleep. He only slept for about 2 hours at a time after that. We tried him on cereal again the other day and he broke out again in that strange rash around his neck that smelled like yeast so we're thinking he might be allergic to the cereal. We gave him "chiquita" bananas today and after 2 attempts he finally decided it was OK. No sign of rash from the bananas yet. He will be 4 months on the third. I can't believe I was carrying him in my stomach last year at this time. I think last year on this weekend was when we announced that I was pregnant. It's funny how time flies by. Jayden has advanced from the bassinet part of his playpen into the actual playpen now. I don't think he knows quite what to think being able to see what's going on around him in there. I can't wait until he's able to sit up and play with his toys inside of it.
Last weekend I went to the Zimmerman Winery with Clarke for her 21st birthday. It was rustic because it was in the country but at the same time it was very cozy and classy. If you want to get away for an afternoon and taste some good wine then I recommend it. The owners made you feel right at home. Plus, it was gorgeous, especially right now with the fall colors. We learned so much about wine that I never knew.
After months with NO RAIN, the heavens finally opened up and drenched us to the bone. I think it's been raining for 3 days straight now. I'm not complaining because we surely needed it considering how low our water situation was getting. It's so ironic that California is having to battle fire and we will probably need a boat before too long. Supposedly this cold weather is going to stay. I really hope so because I put all of my summer clothes up and got all of my winter stuff out. I always look forward to wearing sweaters but I'm happy to see Spring when it gets here.

"You're only here for a short visit. Don't hurry. Don't worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way."

Picture Perfect Pocketbook

I have seen all of these adorable pocketbooks lately that have a place for pictures on it and while I was shopping in the craft department at walmart I found some clear vinyl (shower curtain material) that was in the remnant bin. I bought it on impulse thinking I could find some use for it. The other day my AVON tote bag ripped so I finally found a use for my vinyl!

I used a pocketbook that ironically I bought from AVON 2 years ago and I sewed the vinyl onto the pocketbook using dental floss and a cross stitch needle. But I also left an opening at the top so that I could change out the picture. I did not do it on both sides but I'm sure I will later.

This was super super easy to do! Plus, you can show off your pictures at the same time. You probably don't have to use dental floss, you could use embroidery floss too but I figured dental floss was really durable and easier to hold on to for this. I love the fact that it's versatile and you could even put a decorative fabric in the slot to match a certain outfit or to use as a background behind the picture.

Happy Crafting! :)

Feedback: The inevitable result when your baby doesn't appreciate the pureed carrots.

Full name: What you call your child when you're really mad at him.

Ow: The first word spoken by children with older siblings.

Puddle: A small body of water that draws other small bodies wearing dry shoes and socks into it.

Show off: A child who is more talented than yours.

:::::My Favorite Freebies last week::::

Free Gift for signing up (Ok everyone this is a totally awesome freebie! If you only have time to sign up for ONE freebie do this one! It took forever for mine to come and I really thought it would be something stupid but UPS finally brought it. I got a really pretty heart shaped mirror that comes in a velvet drawstring bag, it has the Judith Jack logo lazer printed on the back and it fits perfect in your purse! If you look closely at my picture up top you can see it...oh and for anyone that doesn't know what Judith Jack jewelry is it's really expensive jewelry that they sell at Nordstrom's and I think you can see some of it on their site)

This freebie is even better...
Wedding Channel.com and Macy's teamed up and are offering a bunch of freebies for creating a wedding registry on their site. Go here to see the details. (If you don't have adobe reader you will have to download it to do all of this)
Once you get to the site just download each form and follow each company's directions. You don't have to purchase anything. All you have to do is register for the amount of items that each company requires you to. There are some things that require a purchase but it clearly states which is which. I am married but I could be renewing my wedding vowels so they don't have to know anything. Also, when I registered they had all of these options for what the occasion was such as anniv. or wedding or engagement so I'm pretty sure it's not required to be set in stone.
I think one girl's blog that I read said that the Macy's near her called just to tell her that they were there if she needed anything but it was just a 2 minute conversation. They havn't called me yet and I just received my first free thing the other day...a crystal picture frame from Mikasa(it's in the picture up top).
Each form that you download is going to a different location and you have to send a copy of your registry with each one. However, with each brand I highlighted which one it was referring to so they could find it and I only sent the portion of the registry that it required instead of printing off a whole bunch of paper. You might have to print it 2 or 3 times just to get each brand on there but it's better than printing it off 6 or 7 times.

Oh and make sure you read the fine print on the Kitchenaid form before you register..they are a bit more picky about which products to register for.

One last thing...if you feel guilty about this just remember these places pay like 50 cents for a cake server and then turn around and sell it for $100, so seriously, don't feel bad.

Got Milk?

Jayden is 3 months old today! He must be having some major growing spurts because today was one of his horrible moody days. We've marked it up as growing pains because we have no idea what else it could be. However, his cry was almost like a hungry cry so maybe he's just ready to take more formula. Tonight at bedtime I fed him a 9 ounce bottle and he drank the whole thing! The pictures below are very monumental because as you can see he is holding his own bottle. No, this was not one of those random pics that we got for a split second to show he's holding it- he really held it or a while! It was really cool! Today, he also mimicked my facial expressions and when I say "I Love You" he doesn't say the words, but he repeats the sound that the words make almost as if he's saying it. It is so awesome to see him slowly changing!

Breast Cancer Month

In October, everyone starts thinking about the tree's leaves turning red, or which Halloween costume their children are going to be wearing. But October is also the month that many people get their pink ribbon pins back out and wear them proudly(or they may have never put them up). I have always been very up to date on ovarian cancer because my Great Grandmother died from it but I have never given breast cancer as much recognition. I decided to read up on it so that I could relate with it a little bit more. According to Medical News Today, Breast Cancer is the second most common cancer in women in the US, topped only by skin cancer. More than 211,000 women and 1,600 men will be diagnosed with it this year. The positive news is that if the cancer is detected early and treated, more than 95 percent of patients survive five years or more.I was also suprised to read that it is the second-leading cause of cancer death, after lung cancer, according to the American Cancer Society. I was very curious as to why October was picked as the designated month but I was not able to find out anything.

I found a really great site during my research:
The Breast Cancer Site
Once you get to the site there is a big pink button in the middle that says "Click here to give". Each time you or someone else clicks on the button it is paid for by a site sponsor. The proceeds are going towards funding free mammograms for women in need- low income, inner city and minority women whose awareness of breast cancer and opportunity for help is often limited. This is a really great way to help if you are not able to donate otherwise.

AVON also donates to the Breast Cancer Foundation
The lip balm is only $1.50 and 100% of the proceeds are donated to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. Click on the lip balm to see more pink ribbon merchandise.

AVON Item of the Week

The item of the week is AVON's new Uplifting Mascara. It is the first and only mascara in the world with a bendable brush. The coolest part? It's on sale! Orig. $8.50 - Now $4.99!

Avon.com says:
"Avon's revolutionary Bend-Extend brush flexes to 45 degrees. Visibly 75% more length. Use brush straight. Create lashes of staggering porportions. Up to 100% more lift. Bend brush, take even the smallest hard-to-reach lashes to new heights."

WE HAVE LIFT-OFF

I just had to tell ya'll that Jayden is holding his head up BIG time! He started doing it yesterday after we propped him up on a pillow that Momma made. I can't get over how many cute facial expressions he has and how different he looks in each one.

Jaybird got a little pooped out after all of the excitement :)

Touches of Fall

We got Fall fever around here a couple of weeks ago but I just now got around to taking pictures. I thought that I would share our touches of Fall....

Believe it or not, this is all from Dollar Tree

This is Marilyn, our friendly ghost

My parents made this, so cute

The flower arrangement is my first crafting experience in a long time. The red bucket came from a wishing well that Mom decorated.
